Poured from a growler.
Aroma intially shows strong banana, but that subsides to more traditional clove like phenols. Alcohol notes as well. Mild malt in background.
Brown amber, very cloudy. Head is very thin and moves quickly to a ring. No lacing.
Good complexity in flavor. Good mix of malt and phenols. Fair amount of lighter fruity and its presence is greatest at the finish. Just a small amount of oxidation and alcohol. Also a raisin quality. Banana shows in the phenols again.
Really a strong slickness (not quite oily, more like a brief coating of the tongue). This also lends a thickness. This also adds to the smoothness. Appropriately heavy carbonation. Medium feel. Mildly rich.
This is really quite enjoyable. Very complex with lots of varieties of experiences. Best so far from this brew pub. Seems to lack a quaulity that aging may give it, but a guy can't cellar a growler.

On tap, Autumn Brew Review 2004...

Brown and majorly murky in appearance. Yellow head, evens out at 1/8 of an inch in the glass. Laces in small drips and dots. Flufy aroma, cotton candy and some definitive peach. Impressive combination of esters and distinct cocoa up front. Some fruit notes pick up mid mouth but the nice subtle carbonation and a re-assertment of the chocolate quality close it out and remain in the aftertaste. A little different in flavor presentation from many Weizenbocks I've had but with solid credentials, appropriate esters, and a very tasty profile

I come back to Bandana brewery after a 2 month absence, and I am pleastenly surprised that they brewed something that they needed to charge more for, because of ABV and cost of production.
Pours pitch black on top of the glass, looks like dark cola towards the bottom, though. Smell is fruity, somewhat duvel-like, with strong alcohol traces. Taste is very fruity and chocolatey, cherries, wheat, coffee, and good hops are all present in the flavor, followed up by an alcoholic punch. Mouthfeel is full and creamy, somewhat grainy in the mouth. Excellent beer all around, my 10th from bandana, and much better than anything else that they have made. The year and a half practice has sure paid of from brewing at this spot.
