The first growler from the first keg that was tapped 20 minutes after i came in, filled by the brewmaster. Brewed with all German malts and licorice root.

Appearance: A wickedly murky deep brown color, barely letting traces of light through at the edges, revealing a slightly lighter brown color.

Smell: A trace of licorice is present, with some dark roasted malts, a slight amount of alcohol, a little bit of dark chocolate and cherry.

Taste: The licorice addition really comes through in the flavor, but does not have the "black jelly bean" flavor taste like jagermeister, but it adds a nice sour/bitter flavor that combines well with more dark chocolate and cherry. Smooth up front, a nice bitter alcohol kick finish things off.

Mouthfeel: Bandana's darker beers always have a slightly grainy mouthfeel that is not bad, but just a distinct characteristic.

Drinkability: Excellent, I could sip this all night, and this is one of the best from Bandana. I like the licorice, really adds something interesting.
