Pours a decent sized head, but it's quite fizzy and quickly disappears.

Nose is very coffee-forward - strong, but pleasant. Toffee, nuts, and toast from the malt base. Vanilla is not noticeable.

A touch too lively on the bite; more sting than you want in a coffee porter. Makes savoring a bit of a challenge. The flavor, though, hits mostly the right notes: coffee, along with notes of chocolate, brown sugar, toast, toffee, red grapes, and a vanilla finish.

With a smoother mouthfeel, this would be worthy of working into your breakfast stout rotation, if you happen to get Bowigens regularly. At 6%, it's also much less impact than most of its contemporaries.
