Received in a beer52 order.
Pours hazy tan-red into a tulip glass from a 330ml can. Off-white head dissipates quickly leaving a thin layer of froth on the surface; minimal lacing.
The nose is moderate, revealing sweet red tutti-frutti, grapefruit, mango, and red grapes. I also detect sweet malts, nectar, and just a hint of pine. The aroma is overall very sweet smelling, but there is an underlying tartness there in some form. It definately smells like a classic American IPA, those citrus notes dominating.
There is a definate hybrid flavour of big IPA citrus, dank pine, and bitter hops, mixed leisurely with subtle autumn style winter warmer flavours such as red fruit, earth, and malts. The flavours are beautifully balanced as you move from citrus, to pine, to berries, to herbal earth, and then hops; as if you start at the top of the forest canopy then work your way down. It tastes gorgeously fresh and crisp, yet rich all at once. The aftertaste is a blend of all the aforementioned, with a definate piney, fruit biscuit endurance.
In the mouth it feels light yet a tad oily. There is a light-moderate carbonation which doesn't overstay its welcome on the tongue, leaving the beer smooth and soft.
I adore this ale, for me it marries the IPA with the Red Ale in a beautifully fresh and balanced way. I would highly recommend this beer, and am going to be very sad when I finish it.

330ml Can from Beer52.co.uk:
Surprisingly good for a session IPA, not weak or bland. It came through with good bitterness & plenty of tropical fruits plus a little pine. Some sweet malts followed on behind & it was an easy, enjoyable beer to drink. I'm looking forward to trying a couple more from the brewery after this one now.
