Cherry & Marzipan Dessert Stout

It's the people and local communities that help make our bars what they are, and the "Vocation Second Home" series looks to celebrate them by partnering the bar staff with our brewing team to create special, one-off brews.

The latest of our bars to open, Sheffield, wanted to combine a rich, indulgent stout with a famous dessert from just down the road and the Bakewell Stout was born.

Copenhagen 15/1 2024. 44 cl can from Meny, Borups Allé, Frb. F. Very detailed and a bit naivistic rendering of the city of Sheffield on the can.

Pours opaque dark brown with a mid-sized off-white head. Stable. Settles as thin, flimsy layer of foam stretching to cover the surface of the beer. No lacing.

Aroma is intense with a sugary, candy.like odor of sweetened berries and chocolate cake. Cherries, brown sugar, toffee, almonds and chocolate.

Light carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, a bit viscous, almost flat texture.

Flavor is medium intense with a strong sweetness followed by a lighter but notable bitterness. Aftertaste is sweet with a bitter undertone. Lingers for a while. Finish is rather dry.

Quite the dessert.
