I had this ontap at Stoudts Black Angus Brew Pub in Adamstown, PA. It came in a stemed small water glass
Appearance: The body is a crystal clear gold color. The head is a dull white color, 2 fingers tall, ok retention, sporatic thin lacing and bubbles.
Smell: The aromas are pale malt, earthy hops and spargy. This is pretty muted.
Taste: The flavors are short, malty and pine resins. The finish is too short.
Mouthfeel: The mouthfeel is medium bodied and crisp and clean.
Drinkability: This beer is very good.
Don't drink and review.

Served chilled in a tumbler.
A - A golden straw w/ great clarity and thick snowy head
S - Malt sweetness w/ herbal and light toasted hint w/ a honey tinge
M - a feel that has mild spice and med body w/ slight sweet and toasted texture w/ mild bitter tinge in the finish
T - Crisp at first w/ malty grainy taste and followed by a spiced herbal hop flavor w/ mild sweetness and crisp nutty essence in the finish
D - A good kolsch IMO it achieves the goal of being drinkable, I was easily able to drink 3 in a session and it doesn't matter if it is true to the original style to me it is nice to quaff.

Very clear golden yellow body with some carbonation bubbles. Small white head that slims down to a band that leaves a lot of sticky lacing along my glass.
Some grainy aroma with touches of fruit/citrus and some hops.
The slight grainy/pale malt flavor comes through. A touch of lemon and some moderate hoppiness. Moderate for a Kolsch anyway. A very crisp, smooth and thin mouthfeel.
Pretty drinkable beer; something I could down a lot of.

Served at the brewpub in a tulip-esque glass.
A: The ale is a pale yellow brew, translucent save for the stream of carbonation in the center of the glass. A white head sat precariously atop the beer and quickly flitted away to a small band.
S: The aroma is inoffensive; a mild grainy offering with some earthy noble hop crispness and pepperiness.
T: The ale was served cold. I recommend allowing it to warm, as the ale is pretty lifeless when cold. As it warmed, lemon and pepper flavors arose, marking an earthy, herbal hop body. The light cereal flavors from the malts served as a nice base, allowing the flavors to expand as they breathed.
M: The mouthfeel is lively for a kolsch but restrained relative to other styles. Again, let this baby warm up.
D: The alcohol weighs in below 5%, so this is a good session ale but I'm not a big fan of such a restrained style so I'd pass on it for another Stoudt's offering.

a: This was a mostly clear, pale, straw colored yellow. It was served to me with a one inch, white foamy head that lasted a short while.
s: Sweet malty grains with fruit elements of apples and apricots. Some grassy perfumed hops as well.
t: Sweet at first with honey and vanilla flavors. Some fruit flavors of apricots and apples as well. The finish is a bit dry with flowery, lemony hops.
m: Nice body for a low abv, very well carbonated.
d: I don't know German styles of beer very well yet, but I found this to be subtley complex and delicious.

On tap at Stoudt's 6/28/08
Poured a clear straw gold with 3 fingers of creamy white head. Good retention left nice lacing. Smells of lightly toasted grain, bread, lemon zest, and floral hops. Tastes of lemon up front followed by grain, honey, apples, and pear. Finishes off with flowery hops and a touch of spicy hops. Medium light in body with good carbonation. Nicely balanced with a fruitiness accompanying the malts with a dry slightly bitter finish. Easy to drink and refreshing, a good summertime brew.
