McGillin's marked its 150th Anniversary (in 2010) with the launch of its own beer, called McGillin’s 1860 IPA. It is made by Stoudt’s Brewing, brewer of the tavern’s two house beers: McGillin’s Real Ale and McGillin’s Genuine Lager

First had: on tap at McGillin's Olde Ale House, Philly, PA
This beer is definitely not retired, being the house brew at McGillin's.
An okay brew, not too distinctive, Stoudt's Real Ale came to me in a pint glass, clear amber in color with a thin, wispy, white head. Mostly caramel malts in the aroma, a bit metallic, with some light, fruity hops coming through. Basic malty taste, a touch of brown sugar and orange zest, and slightly toasted grains. Decent, but nothing special. Light-medium mouthfeel, and fairly drinkable, but nothing I'd get again. Also it's only available at McGillian's, which is a terrible place.

Good looking dark brew- somewhat surprising for the APA style. Roasted malt aromas and slight bitterness on the nose. Flavor was surprising as well- burnt caramel malts, sticky sweet with a slight warming hop finish, though not very dominant. It seemed a departure from the style- nicely carbonated but very heavy on the mouth and the stomach. Nice flavors, but deceiving in its presentation.
