Pours a dark brown almost black color with a thick, light brown, head that is slow to fade away. Smells of dark chocolate and roasted malts. Taste is roasted malts, chocolate, and a little bit of grassy, hoppy flavor. A noticeable hop bitterness. Medium light body, medium carbonation. Tasty brew, nicely balanced. I like how the bitterness works with the sweet to keep it from being overpowering.

Sampled a small tasting flight pour, one of this new brewery's "lab" beers. Nice roasted malt aroma and flavor. Pleasantly reminiscent of a Bavarian dunkel.
