Hausbrauerei Altstadthof

Our bus tour stopped here for a few beers while on a walking tour of the old section of the city and its gardens. It's a fairly small place, although not busy the day that we were there. There are also some tables out on a fenced section of the sidewalk. We sat at the bar and the bartender was very efficient. This is the first brewery on our tour that offered a sampler flight. There were 6 beers available and the flight paddle held three, so I ordered the Rotbier, the Schwarzbier, and the Kellerbier. I also ordered a full pour of the Roter-Bock. All of them were very good, and I gave each a 4.25 score. This place is also a distillery, and I noted some wines being available too. If you're touring the old city you have to stop here.

I was here when it opened in 1988 and been stopping by ever since. I used to give tours here and this was a must stop. I still think for me. Alll three of my wives have been here and also I had the best date of my life here with a TV reporter. All of this means nothing to you all but the beers a fresh and made there. They like the Franksch Red beers. Food is good and one of the waitresses has known me for 28 years or so. She still remembers me even though I get up here alot less than I used to. For me this is one of those places you don`t forget.

Good beer but quite touristy, better if you grab a 1L bottle to-go at the “Taproom” around the corner and drink it on the Platz with the crowd next to the castle walls. Rotbier is the east choice. The main location has some sidewalk seating, a “Braustuberl” area inside, and then a Biergarten in the back. I didn’t see a server for the entire time I was there so I got up and left. Food looks to be traditional German and has some Nuremberg specialties. There’s also a small shop with bottles and spirits to take away.

Nice place in city center of old town. Only had time for a quick beer while on a tour. Nice atomosphere. Very busy. Guide said it was very popular with the locals. Enjoyed the rot bier. Well worth a visit.

Located a few blocks below the Castle (Burg), this nice little brewery was the first place visited upon arrival. It is a small room, dark and cozy, furnished with several communal tables around a small, but worn, bar. Table service is quick and efficient. This is where you go to get the famous Nurnburg "Rotbier," a sweet malty concoction that is brewed on site.
There is also a Roter Bock, which is a tad sweeter. Both beers go great with their hearty schnitzel. A great place to hit when visiting Germany's neatest city.

 

Now you can visit the shop Brauerei-Laden der Hausbrauerei Altstadthof. With regard to the selection, in the range, there is only beer of the brewery and has a small selection of whiskey, but iagazin very nice, when you visit Nuremberg, visiting this place is sure !!!

The food is delicious here. Typical Franconian dishes. All house made Biers!

 

I visited here on a quick visit to Nurnberg. I did not find much of interest in this city beer related. So this was a welcome change the beer and food here is pretty average. Not worth seeking out but its very near the castle so if in the neighborhood maybe give it a try.
