This full-bodied black as night ale is smooth with a velvety texture. Notes of roasted coffee beans and dark chocolate fill the pallet and nose.

Pint from draft in a small town in southern Illinois. Pretty decent version of the style. Good body, tasty roasted malt flavor, drinkable but nothing spectacular.

I am trying this beer off the tapper at the brewery as part of a twelve sample flight. It poured an opaque dark with tan head that is leaving some lace. The scent had bold coffee notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with bold roast and subtle dark chocolate presence. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it is a solid beer.

Pours a black color. 1/3 inch head of a tan color. Great retention and great lacing. Smells of roasted malt, hops, sweet malt, and alcohol. Fits the style of an American Porter. Mouth feel is smooth and clean, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of hint of wood, roasted malt, sweet malt, hint of chocolate, slight alcohol, and a hint of yeast. Overall, good appearance, decent aroma, good body and blend.
