my first beer from thee guys is sturdy but balanced and rather classically fashioned imperial ipa, juicy wet tasting hops meet a bready malt base with a little residual sugar, its a match i am familiar with in a lot of ways, but here its both enormous and approachable, absurd and intense, but something i want to keep drinking, its not off puttingly bitter, nor overly malty at the expense of the hops leading the way, and it never really feels all that boozy as i drink it, although i sure can feel it setting in, its got enough body and boldness and oiliness to remind me that this is massive even though its not too much in my face. notes of honey and glazed donut from the grian, pine cleaner, orange candy, and enough bitterness from the hops and finally a long drawn out finish, rich but not as heavy as it should be for what it is. this is pretty darn good stuff, nice and fresh, and a nice first impression beer from a brewery i had never even heard of before i had this one. scary that i could have a few pints of this...
