Served in a tulip glass
Appearance – The beer is served a crystal clear golden color with a one finger head of billowy white foam. The head has a moderate level of retention, slowly fading to leave a light level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew was somewhat fruity (light fruits) mixed with some citrus grapefruit and floral hop smells. Along with these aromas comes just a hint of bread and a touch of herbal hop.
Taste- The taste begins with a crisp and clean lightly bready and fruity taste that has a clean herbal and citrus hop flavor. As the taste advances the light fruit upfront seems to dwindle in intensity, all while the hop tastes get stronger and are joined by other hop flavors of a floral and pine nature. As the flavor transitions forward, a light bit of an almost toasted caramel malt taste comes to the tongue, and combined with the surge in the dry hop tastes, one is left with a very crisp and clean hopped taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is very thin and the carbonation level perky, creating a refreshingly hopped taste overall.
Overall – This was my first Brut IPA, and it was right up my alley. I think I am now hooked. This was fantastic and refreshing!! Perfect for the sunny Dallas day we visited the brewpub.
