Alte Klosterbrauerei Vierzehnheiligen Brauerei Trunk

Arriving as the sun set, the Vierzehnheiligen Church was lit up with a golden glow. I can only imagine that it could be seen shining on top of the hill from miles away. A path to the right takes you to a small seating area next to the brewery where you can buy beer to go, or to enjoy there, but keep in mind that it closes early so you'll have to go inside to get beers after that. There a fairly large playground for kids behind. Entering the braustüberl I was surprised to find it completely packed with locals! It's really not that big of a room though, it holds only 65 people, nor is the lower biergarten for that matter. There's a bar to the right where you can order food and drinks although the food is limited to meats and cheese and a few grilled items. Their Pils, lager, dunkel, and BIO wheat are always on tap, but they also offer a few seasonals. The kellerbier is available from Easter through August, the harvestbier in September and October, and the festbier, silver bock, and fasten bock from September through Christmas.

2017 update. Located just uphill from the Vierzehnheiligen Church (while it is probably the 14 Holy Helpers, I always think of it as the 14 Holy Ones). Good fortifying food at reasonable prices, good beer. They put out the usual Franken Beer assortment (Sortiment), so no complaints there! In time for Lent (Fastenzeit), they also put out a FastenBock - yum!!
