Formerly Akumal English Porter
Our Second turtle was born in early 2014
This is a Mexican version of the classic Porter style, we only use American and German hops, it is crafted it from a blend of roasted and crystallized malts that give a smooth coffee chocolate profile. Dark color medium bodied, you will love it.

Thanks to JLindros for hooking me up with a can of this from his trip through Mexico.
A - Poured into my Duvel tulip a nice dark brown, not quite clear due to hue, with a thin not quite one finger lightly tan head that fades to leave light wisps and a thin halo in addition to light lacing.
S - Aromas of powdered dutch cocoa, little bit of fudge and brownie batter, definite char and flashes of older coffee grounds. I get a flash of metallic on the finish though.
T - Taste is similar to the nose with nice lighter char, little bit of coffee and chocolate. Doesn't really have the nice powdered cocoa that pops on the nose. While that metallic note is gone the porter itself is rather lackluster. Finish is slightly bitter and acrid.
M - Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated, little crisp, body is on the thin side though.
O - Overall this was a rather solid porter, however, it's also not overly impressive and rather average. Considering where it came from the marks are a bit higher, however, after having drank the really good APA this brewery does I'm left feeling that this porter pales in comparison.

Best by 12/20, picked up at the brewery yesterday
Pours a small fizzy off white head with med retention, fair lacing, very dark brown color hint of light
Nose nice porter, roasted malts, little coffee, hint of char but not acrid, little nutty, nice dark chocolate cocoa notes, even a rich fudgey, hint of spicy hop
Taste brings more porter, roasted malts, again a touch of char without being acrid, dark roast with some dark coffee, nutty as well, into raw cocoa, dark chocolate fudge, clean fermentation, med bitterness from hops and roasted malts, med light spicy earthy hop flavor, finishing spicy and roasty
Mouth is med to a little fuller bod, med carb, rich creamy feel as well
Overall another very nice beer from this place. I really wish I could get more as this was the only other can they had. I'll try to hit their tap room in playa del Carmen if possible, and def swing by next time I'm in this part of Mexico
