such a cool idea here, they teamed up with three other local breweries ausable, oval, and valcour and did a four pack, one each, collaborations with each individually, and then this one, which was all four breweries in one beer, a big hazy almost imperial ipa. in this instance i like the idea better than the beer, it might be my least favorite of the four. its a little less refined than i want it to be, hazy light orange and quite dense, not much head lasting on it at all, and it looks pretty thick in the glass. aroma is on the edge of overly hopped, with some vegetal character and some soupy slightly sweet grain, somewhat generic but pungent up front. the flavor is about the same, i dont love the burn this has, especially as it warms up, but thats more a mouthfeel critique than a flavor one, this is slightly fuller and maltier than it needs to be, not all that dry, and has an oily richness from all the hops that heavies it up beyond its stated abv. the hops and the grain both could stand to be scaled back a bit, this seems overdone and a little amateurish as a result, but the freshness is on point, the hop profile is familiar but delicious, and the citrus notes pop from start to finish, not just at the end, cool for something so massively dry hopped. i also appreciate a little bitterness in a hazy, so there is a lot to like here still, but when considered with the other three individual collaborations in the four pack, this is the one i would be least keen to drink again...
