The beer was served as a 10 oz pour. The beer poured a slightly rubied dark brown color with no head. The hop and malt aromas were both very strong on this beer. Full sweet hop and a big deep caramel sweet malt work very well together. The flavor had a more subdued hop than the nose sugested, but it was still very present. The malt was big and bold, sweet and full, but right where I wanted it to be to balance the hops. The feel was big and thick and syrupy. I thought this was a great beer, maybe the best I have had from BBC. For a big bad beer, this was very drinkable. Very, very nice.

On tap poured into an hourglass pilsener glass. It pours a medium ruby color with one finger of head. There is a little bit of lacing left on the glass. The smell is a good balance of caramel malt and hops, nicely done. The taste has lots and lots of roasted malt and caramel flavor up front, just slightly sweet. The finish is a good mix of alcohol and piney hops. It's a nicely balanced barleywine. The mouthfeel is fairly strong, but the drinkability suffers from the abv some. A solid barleywine.
