A: Pours a dark, ruddy amber with a tight, compact white head.
S: Aromas of lemon, lime, bitter orange, grapefruit, pine, spruce, biscuit, and fresh herbs are present on the nose.
T: Notes of fresh herbs, pine, spruce, lemon, lime, bitter orange, kumquat, grapefruit, dark bread, caramel, and biscuit coat the mouth. The finish is bitter and resinous with notes of pine and citrus underscored by alcohol.
M: Medium-to-full in body, but closer to the former than the latter. Oily and resinous in the mouth. Carbonation is minimal. Alcohol is pronounced. Should be sipped rather than quaffed.
O: This is a rock solid DIPA. Compared to other examples of the style, this one is light and rather conservative, but remains very flavorful. I could see this being a good introduction to the style.
