Iron Flamingo’s Dark English Ale is a beautiful, yet simple beer. A perfect blend of six malts, including crystal, chocolate and a small percentage of roasted barley produce a full bodied ale. Willamette hoops add a slight hoppiness on the palate and in the nose.

On tap at the source.
Deep amber bordering on brown with a bubbly off white head that dissipates quickly. Rich caramel and toffee notes with bits of dark dried fruits and light earthy hops to counter. Really tasty English style ale.

I didn't pour this into a glass, so my ratings of "look" and "smell" are just guesses. However, the taste was really bad--very sour! I used to brew my own beer, and this tastes like a bad batch. I noticed that previous reviews of nearly a year ago also were sour, so the "bad batch" theory is weak. I think they just have a bad recipe here...

From a 12oz bottle with no obvious date. Pours a very dark inky black with no head. Toasted malt on the nose, but a very sour taste...almost saison-like. Not sure if this was an off bottle, or just a style that did not appeal to me.

Smell is a sweet chocolate. Taste is sweet chocolate with some coffee that was initially overwhelming but improved with further tastes, light hopps at end. Moderate body appropriate to the style.

As the other review stated, I am not sure if my beer was old/stored wrong, but it smelled and tasted like a malt extract based home brew. After having the Red Ale, I was hopeful for this one, but it failed me entirely. It tastes like an infected batch, which it may have been. Honestly, this one was so bad that I am giving it the benefit of the doubt and trying another one. My first malt extract brew I ever did tasted just like this one, and I was too embarrassed to share it with anyone.

Didn't do much for me. Agree with other review that it tasted off. Reminds vaguely of a Scottish ale. Mouth feel like a flat Coke. Disappointing.

I am not sure if this beer was bad or spoiled, but it significant off notes.
I was looking forward to trying this beer, which poured a nice deep opaque brown.
The smell had a bready malt sweetness, but was overpowered by an intense yogurt smell.
For the taste, it was difficult to discern anything other than an intense sourness that felt very out of place with this beer style.

9/2...pours dark brown, fast fizz. Pours like a soda. Roasted coffee nose, light roast. Earthy. Very light roasted flavor, sweet malt. Subtle coca cola flavor. Mouthfeel is a little cloying. OK.
