Horny Devil is our interpretation of a Belgian-style Golden Ale. Brewed with authentic Belgian ingredients including candi sugar and a Trappist yeast strain, its fruity and spicy aromas include notes of orange, banana, and peppercorns. Coriander seeds add refreshing citrus notes which meld seamlessly with the beer’s delicate malt. Horny Devil finishes with a lively carbonation and a refreshingly dry finish.

Bottle no date:
Pours a straw-golden and very clear. Visible random bubbles form a starry night across the glass, rising slowly to supply the lid of foamy head atop the surface.

The nose hit me just before I started pouring, and was definitely what the label says - a spiced Belgian, in the ilk of Allagash White (though not a witbier). Belgian esters of banana with a little indistinguishable light fruit tart note as well. The coriander comes out more early, but is always present in the nose.

The notes from the nose are all represented in the taste. However, the banana takes a back seat to an apple pulp sweet-tartness (more of the former). The spice also bites into the palate early (perhaps aided by a prickly carbonation feel), and lingers in an almost white pepper taste in the end. The beer has a nice light feel to it, but the flavors add a depth to the beer to add a little heft to it.

Very enjoyable, but perhaps a little sweeter than I'd like. It crosses so many t's and dots a lot of i's for style, but is just off from being a home run to me. You shouldn't pass it up, though, if you have a chance to see for yourself.

Copenhagen 2/12 2020. 35,5 cl bottle from Kvickly, Østergade, Middelfart. Red tail and flames printed on the bottle.

Pours unclear orange with a small white head. Disappears completely after a few seconds leaving only flimsy remnants behind. No lacing.

Aroma is intense with a sweet yet sharp odor not without a boozy tang. Sweet malts, sugar, caramel. Sharp grainy odor laced in alcohol. A little metallic.

Strong carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, lively and tingling texture.

Flavor is medium intense with a strong sweetness followed by a medium strong bitterness. Aftertaste is sweetish with a bitter undercurrent. Lingers for a while. Semi-dry boozy finish.

Boozy and sweet. Not the worst way to get plastered.

Hazy, golden color. Big, white head. Fruits, bubblegum, candy sugar, and Belgian yeasts in aroma. Sweet taste with the semidry finish and gentle bitterness.

Crystal clear, light gold body; dense, small-bubble carbonation, lively; thick, white head, dense and frothy. Soft, mellow fruity esters greet the nose; pear; very light biscuit malt. Fantastic flavor; floral sweetness; light honey; ; subtle spiciness; delicate phenol add contrast; mild bitterness. Medium body; soft with a light velvety feel overall; sublime residual sugar cushion; semi-sweet overall.

This is a very impressive Belgian ale with coriander added. Soft, balanced, very flavorful.

A bit of a Hoegaarden clone, but it does have it's own character. A bit heavier and sweeter than Hoegaarden. Not a bad brew. Pretty much no head at all and the can was about 5 weeks old. 10% ABV though!
