This beer should be called "Jim Jones Speedway" because this is what I'd imagine arsenic tastes like. I love Speedway and AleSmith but this beer was a complete and total miss. Sampled on-tap during the 2017 Speedway Grand Prix, this version of the infamous stout is a combination of coffee, lavender and Caroline Reaper Chiles. You get zero coffee flavor. Instead, you get a huge punch in the mouth from the lavender that tastes the way floor cleaner smells; overpowering chemical taste. That off putting taste experience is then made worse by the introduction of the chiles which hide on the backend and are super spicy. The end result is a beer that tastes like hot chemicals.
I actually had to con a friend into asking for a splash of it just so he could verify that I wasnt crazy. He did.
