Copenhagen 6/10 2019. 35,5 cl can from Fish and Beer, Amagerbrogade, Kbh S. Devil guzzling beer sitting on a Anvil to find the right balance for the two involved breweries.

A real gusher. Pours unclear orange with a big white head. Settles as thin patch of foam unable to cover the surface of the beer. Moderate lacing.

Aroma is intense, fruity, lightly boozy and citric. Peach, apples, fermentation. Lime, Citrus and Pine. Light odor of alcohol.

Light carbonation. Slightly thick, oily texture.

Flavor has a fairly strong sweetness followed by strong citric bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter. Lingers for a while. Finish is semi-dry.

Intense, well-balanced IPA with a nice touch of fermentation.

 

 

Hands down that this was the best beer that I’ve had recently. It reminded me of the times when I had beers like Stone or Port Brewing for the first time. It was so San Diego, I could say a subgenre within the West Coast category. Now this is San Diego squared.
As soon as I opened the can, the aroma was just all over the room and what a fragrance! Unbelievably insane fruity hops! Wow.
And you know what? The taste was just the same! Similarly unbelievable, with a tremendous amount of hops with an amazing balance of malts and hops, and even within hops the bitterness and the alpha acids... a truly outstanding beer!
No wonder, as it was made by two of the best breweries in the world. I’d love to have more beers made in collaboration of these two. Hats off!!! (but for them, it’s just doing what they’re best at...)

 

 

 

 

Solid golden color with a thin head with decent retention.
Nice aroma with notes of passion fruit (just first whiff), pine, malt sweetness, stone fruit and mango.
Flavor with notes of grapefruit, pine, lemongrass, lemon, malt sweetness, dry orange on sugar and mango. Dry and bitter aftertaste.
Light body with appropriate carbonation. Surprised to see this is 7% abv.
Well executed and balanced West Coast IPA with citrus, pine and some dankness going on.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Appearance: slightly hazy light orange in color with a 2" head that lingers around a while.

Smell: tropical tones rise from the glass.

Taste: caramel, grapefruit, lemon zest, pineapple, soft pine, and a nice bitterness.

Mouthfeel: medium bodied beer. Crisp to start, less crisp and a touch dry late.

Overall: an enjoyable beer that is well balanced and flavorful. Easy to drink.

Notes via stream of consciousness: Great label. Cute name. It's poured a very hazy golden-amber body beneath an inch-plus head of white foam. Bubbles can be seen quickly streaming towards the surface, bolstering the head as it slowly settles. The aroma is tropical with sweet malt, but it's not the brightest. The hops display notes of candied orange, grapefruit, mango, herbs, and soft pine. The flavor offers that same sweetish, golden and bready malt that's in the aroma with the same hops, and again, just like the aroma the hops are not that bold - this is clearly more of an AleSmith beer than it is a Stone beer. Nor is it really that tropical. It is, but at the same time it doesn't scream tropical like some IPAs do. It's OK though I guess. The bitterness is balanced against the malt (listed at 55 IBU) and it finishes with a quick note of fading malt before drying. The mouthfeel is dextrinous and medium bodied, and it's got a gently crisp carbonation that lends a little zest to the tongue to counter its body. Looking back the head retention was excellent, and the lacing pretty good. Overall it's a decent enough beer but nothing spectacular.
