One of the all-time highest rated IPAs on RateBeer, AleSmith IPA is back for our 25th Anniversary and better than ever. Bursting with massive hop aromas of grapefruit, pine, and tropical fruits from huge additions of Columbus and Citra, this classic IPA is perfectly balanced by a healthy malt backbone and a smooth, bitter finish.

Pours a nice copper orange with a solid two fingers of off white head, nice retention. Smells dank and piney. Taste follows with a buttery cracker finish. Feels is light and crisp. An excellent WCIPA

16oz can, painted label. Bottom date stamp is 'CANNED ON 11/24/2025', about twenty five weeks in the can.
Mostly clear, deep gold colored body. Two fingers of dense white colored head, and this settles back to a full cap and high reaching ring. Leaves behind torn webs of lacing.
Aroma of grapefruit, pine, and pineapple, along with sweet toasted malt.
Taste is grapefruit, pine, pineapple, and a sweet toasted malt base. Stays sweet through the aftertaste. Bitter bite on the onset and this evolves into a pine resin bitterness in the aftertaste.
More than medium mouthfeel. Slight syrup texture. Buzzy and biting but no burn. Excellent carbonation.
Starting to show its age in the can but still well balanced between the sweet and the bitter, with tasty hop and malt flavors. An example of how IPAs drop off with age in the can.

Copenhagen 3/6 2018. 35,5 cl can from Kihosk, Sønder Boulevard, Kbh V. A very green can with an Anvil with a mug of Beer on top of it.
Pours hazy amber with a big white head. Settles as a 2,5 cm thick blanket of foam crawling up the side of the glass. Massive lacing.
Aroma is intense, citric and fermented. Fermented exotic fruit. Peach and mango. Slightly decayed. Shitload of grapefruit. Pine. Light notes of alcohol.
Soft carbonation. Quite thick, soft and creamy texture.
Flavor has fairly strong sweetness followed by and balanced by strong bitterness. Dry finish.
Classic American IPA.

I had this on draft 8/31/25 @ the Beer Temple.
Mostly see-through vibrant orange appearance.
Huge bright white head; a thick curtain of lace remained.
Orange citrus & lemon peel notes in the nose.
Sticky medium mouthfeel.
Orange citrus flavor up front; dry pine notes on the finish.
Beautiful to look at and balanced enough that it was tasty. Solid all around.

On tap at The ove in York PA. Pours a clear amber with a decent off-white head. Good lacing. Initial impression is citrus, pine and sweet-ish malt. Mouthfeel is substantial but not sticky. Finish fades to citrus and pine. Overall, a good representation of a West Coast IPA style.

Great classy IPA. Nice looking in a glass. Pine, citrus, and malt in the aroma. Sharp, hoppy bitterness balanced by a malty backbone.

Great looking. Clear gold with 3 finger tight white head that settles to 1/2 finger verrrry persistent head. Lots of lacing. Flavor is good match for can description: citrus, pine, some tropicals. The smell is a subdued version of the same. Obvious but not excessive hop bitterness. Really nicely balanced. Excellent value despite pouring 2 months after the 5/25/24 canning date.
