An imperial stout aged in bourbon barrels with Vietnamese coffee, sea salt, cacao nibs, and vanilla beans. “Sô cô la” is Vietnamese for chocolate, one of the flavor highlights in this truly special offering.

Had this sitting in the fridge for a wildly long while, finally cracked it open and glad I did. This velvety smooth stout tastes exactly as billed, as the dark chocolate, carob, vanilla and coffee are perfectly accented by the salt flavor, but it's not "salty" if that registers. Nose provides further accent with hints of cherry and oak. There's still a little heat to this but it's not overwhelming

Jet black beer with a brown head that clings to the edge of the glass. Aroma is coffee, dark chocolate, bourbon and vanilla with some ocean saltiness. Tastes exactly like it smells with every flavor blending together nicely. The bourbon is pleasantly muted and the coffee and dark chocolate are front and center. Nice char bitter finish. Great beer.

750 mL bottle poured into a snifter.
Near black with a half inch mocha brown head.
Nose: bourbon, coffee, tons of vanilla. Rich dark chocolate character comes in as well. Tremendous depth.
Taste: follows the nose but without quite the same depth. The salt comes through on the finish but to me just makes it busier and doesn’t really add to the great dark chocolate/coffee/vanilla/bourbon profile. Still a great flavor profile overall.
Feel: very smooth, medium-full body, low carbonation.

Solid 4
Its a nice blend of coffee, chocolate and vanilla. The sea salt adds an interesting complexity to it that, while not my personal favorite, helps bring out some of the sweeter tones. Its balanced, warm and boozy, Yours truly just has a hard time with salted beers sometimes. Nonetheless this is worth seeking out.
