The second release in our Hopwright series draws its bright, tropical flavors from Sabro, a new hop varietal bred in part from wild grown hops in the American Southwest. Notes of coconut, lime, tangerine, and citrus will have you reaching for more of this smooth cerveza.

Poured from a can into a tulip glass. Bright golden yellow color with good head and lacing. A bit underwhelming citrus smell and taste. A bit of vanilla. Good feel. Probably not a repeater.

This is the first time I tried a beer from Alesmith (except for a joint production with Stone) and man it’s truly exceptional. This is the kind of beer that you feel 100% pleased with. It had a very densely tropical hop aroma and a taste true to the definition of being tropical - you don’t just get hints of citrus and fruits, they don’t just resemble them, but you have something here that is almost better than the real thing! This beer is perfectly well made, mastered to achieve satisfaction in every sense. It has been a long time that I’ve been this pleased with a beer and no wonder that it is a brew from San Diego - there is just something down there.
Muy sabroso, very tasty, and these Sabro hops must have been named this way for their quality. Would love to drink more from Alesmith and more Sabroso!

Can: Poured a slightly hazy yellow color ale with a large white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of citrusy undertones with some light tropical notes is quite pleasant. Taste is a nice mix of floral hops undertones with some light tropical notes, some residual sugar notes with some light bitterness in the aftertaste. Body is about average with good carbonation. Enjoyable but not as juicy as I was expecting.

Clear yellow-orange. Small eggshell head.
Veggie, light pine, wood, light citrus,
Woody with some citrus and a "meaty" slightly malty finish. Barley and hay come through late.
Smooth, light to medium body, light carbonation.
Interesting, a little different.

Six pack of cans picked up at Total Wine in Lynnwood, Washington. The name means "very tasty" in Spanish.
Canned on date is 5/3/19 so fairly fresh. Served in a pint glass.
Look- Hazy, dark golden color golden with a solid off-white head that receed fairly quickly, leaving
minimal lacing on the glass. Very little carbonation activity in the glass as it sits.
Smell- Very dank melon and citrus, some berries and bubble gum, hoppy and floral, spicy.
Taste- Intially dank and melon, subtle fruitiness (juicy fruit gum, berries, and bitter citrus) become more prevalent, but not overly bitter.
Feel- On the heavier side of medium bodied and a little gritty. More of a sipping beer rather than a session.
O- My first beer from Alesmith, and it's a good beer... a decent take on a NE IPA. Probably not something I'd seek out again though. Going to see how it goes with the spicy Thai seafood stir fry I ordered for dinner.

Its a very tropical flavor with some notes you only find in a margarita. It is a smooth ipa that is not too strong. It really is as good as a beer you could only find at a brewery.
