This special offering celebrates the blending of barrel-aged strong ales aged in bourbon, VSOP cognac, and California red wine barrels. The resulting decadent elixir was further accentuated by the addition of flame raisins. The complexity of this blend is one to appreciate as aromas of plums, figs, fruity esters, and spices balanced with a caramel and malt character along with perceived notes of oak, vanilla, and tannins from the different barrels.

On tap at King's Beer and Wine in Phoenix, AZ.

This one pours a golden dark reddish/brown color, with a small head, and a little bit of lacing.

This smells like caramel, fruitcake, oak, vanilla, breadiness, raisin, cherry, and red wine.

This was a cool thing to find. The cognac and red wine barrels are the stronger showings here, with just a hint of bourbon. The raisins along with the other barrels give this a very deep and tasty dark fruit flavors. There's also vanilla, caramel, and almost a fruitcake/spiced bread sort of flavor.

This is medium bodied, creamy, and with not too much booziness to it.

Alesmith remains one of the most dependable breweries for me, and I always have to order new beers if I see them.
