Easy negative deviation on this one. Why make a hazy ipa if it isn't gonna display any of the attributes it should have other than appearance?
Pours a copper color, its on par with cloudiness moreso than that thicker haze that came to be the style. 2/3" off white head. The aroma has some Citra to it. The Cashmere and El Dorado just smell like bittering hops for the most part, rind and tree bark, dusty unsweetened caramel woody existence.
The taste is a different one for a hazy ipa. Its got substantial bitterness and alcohol burn to the mouth feel. There is that light toffee and orange aspect to it. Its maltier barley wise it seems, I get nothing in terms of flaked wheat or oats to it. Its just a heavy malt, alcohol and bitter kind of beer, which is just out of place for a hazy IPA.
I was happy to be done drinking this one, just didn't feel really up to par, I guess it had nice head retention at least.

Six pack o' tall boys gave me ample opportunity to get to know it.
And I do like it. It's got the blend of stereotypical properties needed to both be New England and double IPA. Good body, plenty of hops, generally tasty to boot.
Overall it's worthy and I've enjoyed every one

Like drinking in surround sound, the double dry hopped and imperial strength IPA of AleSmith with have the tastebuds spinning with excitement.
Stereophile comes in a pale and firmly hazy golden fog. As its creamy white meringue pushes its aromas over the rim, the nose is caught with the juicy and perfumy scents of citrus, tropical, stone fruit and a bouquet of flowery hops. Creamy sweetness greets the tongue with a generous cereal, cream and coconut sweetness in true cereal form.
With the sweetness staying put, the hops abound on the middle palate with the radiance of juicy mandarin orange and a complementary cocktail of pink grapefruit, pineapple, mango, lemon, gooseberry and papaya. Rounded, branch-ripe and fruity, the beer soon turns to a uncharacteristic bitterness to finish the session with a sprucy, herbal and gentle resinous bite.
Creamy upfront but drying considerably in the end, the beer simply does it all- starting juicy and fruit filled but finishing crisp and drying to showcase bitterness. This one-stop shop for hop heads lives up to its loud and all-encompassing taste.
