Cellared a year. Opaque pitch brown body with a tan ring. Smells of big bourbon barrel with old rugged dark wood, molasses and raisin accents, there is some barley, sugar plum, toasted caramel, anise, vanilla sugar, and a touch of tobacco. Taste features big barrel that is more boozy than the nose, black strap molasses, drier dark yeast, anise, tobacco with minor barley, earth, wood root, a touch of earthy spice and prune. Feel is dry but barrel driven, lighter but full and very warm. A complex beauty. The wife liked it

Rich, deep, very sophisticated. Dark brown, tannish head and lacing. Going to describe the smell and taste together as they are similar: bourbon barrel, dark malt, molasses, brown sugar, honey, port barrel, dark fruit. Boozy buzz that I’m thinking might increase as it warms, slight mouth watering finish, very clean. Better than the limited ratings, very flavorful and balanced.
