This Speedway pays tribute to the deep history and vibrant coffee culture of New Orleans. For this brew, we have added coffee from our friends at French Truck Coffee and chicory to give a richer, earthier, and nuttier brew to capture the essence of the city’s beloved coffee tradition in every sip. Cheers!

Tap at Roscoe's in Portland. Colour is pitch black with a huge tan head. Nose is delightfully rich bodied coffee with hints of dark chocolate and roasted almonds. The palate is dry and tight to start and then very tangy and schmacky with a huge bitter coffee hit. There's vanillin on the mid palate and an oaky note. The finish is long and americano-esque.

Roasty, malty, dark, coffee forward, sweet, boozy, slightly thick, a bit cloying, oily, syrupy, not the strongest on the adjuncts, tasty but a hint of being annoying.

16oz can (packaged 2/1/2024) into a tulip. Pours a solid brownish black with a 2-finger monster mocha head that sticks around, eventually settling to a respectable film with substantial collar. Beautiful.

Aroma is roasty, bitter, malty with notes of cocoa, espresso, and vanilla.

Taste is a velvety smooth blend of all the above flavors plus a few more—coffee, chocolate (and chocolate malt), vanilla, caramel, and a nice boozy heat.

Mouthfeel is full bodied and satisfying, lingering slightly bitter finish.

Overall wow, another well-crafted version of Speedway, maybe better than the original.

Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing nearly opaque in the glass with a one finger milk chocolate head with great retention and solid lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, coffee, chocolate, vanilla; lightly nutty. Flavor is dark toasted malt, strong coffee, chicory nuttiness with a little herbal bitterness, bakers chocolate and licorice. Medium bodied with moderate creaminess; nice mouth feel. Starts with classic Speedway coffee and dense dark malts but chicory quickly adds its character of light woodiness and nuttiness and well as a some bitterness that could be mistaken for (and may well be) mild hops. I've never had a NOLA au lait, but from the flavors here, I probably enjoy it. A little earthier than the base stout, but interesting and flavorful. The chicory adds some black licorice too, which is always welcome when deftly handled as it is here. Looks great too. Nicely done.

Another one out of the stash, tall can poured into my Pumpking snifter. Good pour for once and this ends up a dark-brown/black color with a nice, thick mocha head that is lingering way more than expected. It smells a bit like a malty cola. There is the coffee but also something else, which must be the chicory. The taste is rather bitter for a stout, roasty but also warming. I get chocolate on the finish. It's a very earthy sort of beer, which is no surprise with the chicory. It is mid-bodied, a bit thinner than most stouts, but that's not a problem here.

I had the Mexican Speedway Stout a few years back and recall that one being pleasantly bitter. This one is probably more bitter with less dimension, but still enjoyable in its own way. Be prepared for a bitter bomb!

16 ounce can, canned on 02/1/2024 stamped on the bottom of the can. Thanks to Brutaltruth for this! Served in a chalice, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch and a half frothy tan head that stuck around a while. There's also a lot of lacing. I like the aroma, the brew smells like coffee, chicory, roasted malt, and some chocolate. Taste is similar to the aroma, but with the addition of some dark bread, earthy and burnt/charred malt flavors. Mouthfeel/body is full, it's creamy and a bit rich with a moderate amount of carbonation. I thought this was pretty good, definitely worth trying especially if you like coffee and/or chicory!

Knew this one would be good but wasn't sure I'd like it this much, ended up being a great offering a the profile is what I prefer in a coffee stout. Opaque poor with a strong finger of mocha head with tight bubbles, lots of espresso and roasty coffee combined with woody, nutty notes and some light spices underneath that, chicory as well, with a clear note of caramel in the natural sweetness at the end. Good stuff.

De Beer republic. En copa Teku. Leyendo sobre DI y jugando a Rayman Legends. La chicoria le da un toque original, algo especiado, aunque le resta protagonismo al café que esperaba con ahinco

16oz can from Tavour. Black pour, small beige head dissipates. Roasty aroma, coffee. Taste is roast, bitter. I am guessing the rest is chicory, but am not familiar with that flavor . Pretty good.

Looks like a Speedway Stout.
Taste like a Speedway Stout with chicory. Not sure why they would want to do that to their most excellent OG, but they did.
The feel is typical for Speedway, somewhat viscous, very easy quaffing.
OA, while it won’t be a problem going through the 4 pack, I would have preferred the OG.

Black with thick tan head. Coffee, chocolate, and roast on the nose. Tastes similar with just a hint of chicory and a bit of booze. Fairly thick and creamy. This is a very good beer, it doesn't quite live up to original Speedway Stout.

Can dated 2/2/24 into pint glass. Pours a nice inky black with essentially no head. Initial impression is charred malts and a little bitterness, which I guess is the chicory. Mouthfeel is medium - frankly, a little thin for an Imperial Stout. Finish fades to a slight char bitterness.
Back in the day, I used to drink Luzianne coffee. This is reminiscent.
Very enjoyable.
