On cask at Alesmith, pours a deep black with nice tan head

Nose- lots of cinnamon, sweet note, almost like apple pie, but the spice is there. Very subtle trace of chocolate

Taste- fresh cinnamon/Mexican mocha. sugar and a touch of apple, coffee bean, vanilla, finishes with real nice rich cocoa and dry roasted barley

Feel- real smooth, no carbonation. Medium bodied

Wow, very delicious. The cinnamon is surprisingly predominant, but is very enjoyable. Reminds me of a Mexican Mocha (without the chile spice). I've never had a beer with cinnamon that I've enjoyed as much as this. Cheers

Had at the The Linkery, where AleSmith and LoveLikeBeer have teamed up for a pairing event, Cornucopia. The one night event (and beer) was a la carte.

Here is the course I had:

Sixth Course
Oaxacan chocolate cornmeal cookies, toasted nuts, local fruit preserve, mint
Paired with Speedway Stout w/ cinnamon & cocoa nibs (cask). $9 / $12 with beer pairing.

Review:
Served cold in a Belgian tulip, filled half-way.

Appears a deep chocolate color, some dark red hues, with thin lacing.

Smells strong of cinnamon, dark chocolate, rich malt, and some caramel and vanilla.

Taste of cinnamon spices, roasted cocoa beans, slight bitterness, with a nice warm alcohol finish. I don't know the ABV, but it seems to me that this is less than the regular speedway's 12%.

Medium body that goes down smoothly.

This is a great one-time release beer that I am glad to have had the opportunity to try. I still prefer the classic speedway, but his one is a very interesting flavor, with a balance between the cinnamon and Madagascar(?) cocoa nibs. A great beer for a special occasion or a party.
