This Porter has an assertive American hop profile to round-out the roasted flavors of the chocolate malt.

This is not quite a stout, or a Black IPA, so we call it an American Porter.

Out of all the wild (literally), eccentric, and experimental beers that come out of Waller Street Brewery, this one is my favourite.
It is the flavour alone that I think deserves all the attention in this beer. Dark chocolate, milk chocolate, espresso, smooth sweetness, "roasty-ness", and a devilishly smooth finish, this beer hits all the points for being a good porter. Have had it on nitro at the brewery many times. Funny enough, sometimes the beer is more nitrogenated one day than it is the next! Which can be a pleasant surprise, or a let down. For example, when it was first put on draught, the amount of nitrogen in the pour was quite low/subtle. A few weeks later, the nitrogen content was ramped up i presume and the cascade was glorious. Just last week, the nitro level was more moderate again. Naturally, their bottles to-go are not nitrogenated, so if you want the full experience, come to the brewery.

This beer is proper, unique, and just makes you content you picked the right beer from their draught lineup.

One of my favorite porters ever! I absolutely love dark beer (porters, stouts, black IPAs) and I've never had a porter that I could honestly say is better than Moonlight Porter. It's very balanced without being heavy like other porters can be.

Poured from a 500 ml bottle purchased at the brewpub. It was an excellent example of the style--featuring rich roasted malt -- and it was somewhat hoppy. Tasty!

Nice roasted malt. Good deal of hops. Almost a black ale.

This has what I look for in a dark beer - a chocolate and coffee aroma, nice toasted malts with just the right amount of bitterness. And the mouthfeel is spot on - too many porters fall short and just feel watery, but not the Moonlight!

Congrats Waller St. on opening and releasing a fantastic lineup of beers. I can't wait for the bottleshop to be ready, you'll see me often.
