Had this on tap at Beer Cellar. The look on this was a deep caramel color. Nice smell, vanilla, bourbon, malt, caramel. The taste was surprisingly mellow. The bourbon was more noticeable as I let it warm up. Maybe a little sweet but a nice beer.

500 ml bottle into a tulip snifter. Had 9/3/17.
Pours a dark ruby amber, somewhat opaque, with a one inch foamy head and some soapy lacing. Aromas of bourbon, malt, raisins, plums, figs, toffee, dates, light cherries. The taste is more malt forward, then bourbon, figs, plums, cherries, caramel, raisins, light oak. A little sweet note midway through the finish. Smooth, well carbonated, a very good but a touch lighter body for the style.
It’s a little lighter feeling for a barleywine, but not light, full of flavor and aroma. A very solid effort and well worth a purchase.

Had on tap. The smell drew in my attention immediately with big raisin, fig and dates to pair with brown sugared barley and booze. Taste is more booze forward, but has all of the key flavors as well. Feel is a bit light, but not to the point of watery. Solid all around

From a 500ml bottle
It is a mahogany or chestnut color. Murky with a tan head. A little more on the viscous looking side of medium bodied.
It smells outstanding. Dark fruits, carmalized molasses/brown sugar, and a bit of rye whiskey.
I really don't get the rye flavor. Just a bit of a hop like bite at the end. It is excellent otherwise though. Slightly sour figs/dates/raisins with caramel and molasses, a bit of oak, and just a slight floraly hop.
A soild medium body. Very nice for a barrel aged beer. This one tastes more like an English style than American to me, but maybe it lost its hop profile during aging.

On tap at the brewery release on 2/4/17 served in a snifter.
Look- A caramel colored brown with a few centimeters of light tan foam. It settles to a thin ring leaving a little oily lacing behind.
Smell- Big bourbon, sweet caramel, vanilla, oak, a hint of char and finally rye.
Taste- Sweet caramel/toffee, vanilla, oak and mild char.
Feel- Oily and sticky, but pretty smooth with just a slight alcohol bite.
Overall- I had Shimkos' barrel aged Hi-Fi Rye years ago, so trying this was a no brainer. This is some solid stuff! I'm not detecting any rye in the taste, but that doesn't detract from the overall goodness in this beer. It's similar to Hi-Fi except for the absence of a heavier rye profile in my opinion. Being on the sweeter side I feel this will cellar well. I'll predict this will hit it's stride in a year.
