I really don't like to give ridiculous glowing reviews, but I feel like Hofbrauhaus Cleveland deserves one. We have a Hofbrauhaus in Pittsburgh which is about 10 minutes from the house and I would rather drive to Cleveland to theirs than visit ours. Why, you may ask? They just do everything right. From the beers that they choose to brew along with the Hofbrau staples, to the local vendors that they use for their menu, it's all very well thought out and proper. The thing that really sets them apart is their management and staff. All very aware of what their customer wants and are quick to provide it. They are, in my opinion, the very definition of first class.

Da Boss and i visited here for lunch after a morning at the Rock HOF on 8-7-23.

Vibe was pure Munich beer hall, large bar at the front of the hall with picnic style seating, both high and low tops. Outside seating as well as well as indoor annex room for overflow crowds. Da Boss said there was a sign that indicated a 1000-person capacity. I can see where things may get rocking before a downtown event.

Quality of the beers we had were very good. Da Boss said her Light Lager was nice and crisp. I really liked the drinkability of the Dunkel. Had the Fest bier as my second 1/2 liter and that was just as enjoyable, both very good!

Service was so-so. Young 20 something cute waitress was not interested in serving a couple of 60-year-olds. No effort to engage us, just get your order out so i can move on.

Selection was limited to 1/2 dozen beers. Amazing considering how big this place is.

Food was solid. I really enjoyed the Stroganoff and Da Boss vegan hot dog was weird for her.

Overall a nice visit for some solid German beers and food.

As a first generation German American, who has travelled to Germany (a long time ago) , and a native Clevelander, I give this bier joint my stamp of approval.

As a long time downtown Cleveland person and Playhouse Square patron, I was happy to see this come to the area. It is a great themed restaurant, with real deal food, bier, music, atmosphere, and even clothing on the staff. Even the building architecture fits.

The quality and authenticity are really good, but not perfect. The beer menu includes an IPA. Why?

My German mother was not much impressed, but I will attest to the food being better than authentic.

Highly recommended, but when you go, take me!
