A: Pours a dark ruby red, nearly brown color. Much lighter color than the regular porter or the Black Rum. A one finger beige head forms with light lace left behind.
S: Oxidized and boozy rum mixed with City Porter. Again, the porter comes out with the dark malts, chocolate, and dark fruits. Though seems more like a bad shot of rum added to the base porter.
T: Yep, like the nose and the Black Rum. A boozy, day old and oxidized shot of rum added to the base porter. Dark malts, chocolate, and dark fruits.
M/O: A lighter and less carbonated body than either the Dark Rum or regular porter. Again, not something that I am particularly looking to come back to.
As much as I love the regular City Porter, I don't think this or the Dark Rum version were executed well. Seems amateurish to say the least. While I do want to see a few new things from the brewery every once in a while, I think they are best at being simple and to the point. Which is why I like the brewery more than some other locals around. This is just more gimmicky like 8th Wonder, Buffalo Bayou, or Saloon Door.
