First of all, this is a great use of the IPA abbreviation! For those who don't know, Ipanema is a chic neighborhood in Rio de Janeiro. On-tap at Pub Escondido, CA, on to the beer:
A finger's worth of head sits on top this somewhat pale yellow beer. The beer gives off great lacing. Its aroma is floral, citric, dry, but certainly not short of those green flowers. Despite its mild alcohol level, IPA NEMA packs the hops. The beer brings citric, lemon, piney, dry biscuit, honey, and a modest bitterness. In short, there's complexity and good flavor in this package. The beer is light bodied, and easy to drink.
Wow! IPA NEMA punches above its weight. I'm not even a fan of "session" IPA's in general, but this one is very good. Off the top of my head, only Firestone Walker's Easy Jack beat this hidden gem per style.
