Beautiful thick and clean ebony pour. Good half finger of brown foam.
Nose is mostly dark roasted coffee beans. Maybe a little bit of rich chocolate and a light sweetness that's almost reminiscent of milk sugars.
Flavour is similar. Roasty nuttiness initially, but this is quickly subsumed by dark coffee beans and char. There's a light sweet note in here as well that serves as a nice counterbalance to the dark bitterness.
There's a lot to like here. I'd personally prefer it were a bit thicker/chewier, and there's an aftertaste darting in and out of the shadows that reminds me of the kind of sour alcohol flavour I get from cheaper whiskeys. These are minor things in comparison to the whole, which, if you're into a big bitter coffee stout, it's quite enjoyable.
