On-tap at the pub. Strange stout in dead, looks and acts like a porter...Pours a very clear dark brown with hints of amber. The head is an equally light tan but forms a great cap with great retention...The aroma is boring, only a hint of chocolate, sweet...The taste is ok, a little chocolate, bitter roast, a porter but very crushable.

I ordered this Stout at Lily's and it was nothing special. It was described as a "chewy oatmeal" beer on the menu and I could definitely taste the oatmeal and the chewiness, slightly smoky and a hint of chocolate in there. I was expecting a much more filling beer as it is light for a stout with a thin mouthfeel. This is definitely something you could session with.

Gave the Strange Stout a try when out at dinner at Lilys the other night. Beer had a nice color, black with some ever-slight red highlights. Had a good-sized medium tan head that had very good retention, which left some chunky lacing along the side of the glass. The aroma is nice, Roasted malts, chocolate, slightly sweet and smoky. The flavors are roasted malt, slight chocolate taste, slight dryness which reminds me slightly of charcoal taste and feel which are all very nice but it seems to be missing something? Seems that it is slightly week and when it is finishing it just seems to find a void of flavor, maybe a lack of hops? Overall this is a very easy drinking beer and even though you feel that it is missing something it is a good brew and went well with the calamari.

An enjoyable stout. Roasted malts are the first you notice in the flavor. Slighty smoky. Nice off-white head and excellent lacing on the glass. My only complaint is that this beer feels thin in my mouth. If you prefer a easy drinking stout this one will work for a few pints. If you like a more complex stout with nice mouthfeel, you might shoot for something different.

Very rich in every way. Deep black color. Very sweet aromas. Richly textured and full bodied. Flavors aren't so much subtle as they are well-blended into a nice, sweet, lightly roasted, highly drinkable stout. For a seafood restaurant, I think they picked a good brew to do ridiculously well.
