Look: A deep amber color with a just off-white head that starts strong, shows better than average retention, and leaves pretty strong spotting.
Smell: An interesting mix of spicy, dry, vegetal, and sweet, it does all come together to resemble its namesake.
Taste: It has a hint of sweetness, but I was hoping for a little more to balance an unexpected dryness. Spices are there, adding savory and the expected obviously spicy cinnamon, nutmeg-like notes. Pumpkin isn't forward, but it's noticeable. I get more of the wood from the barrel than the spirit, but it's good.
The body is medium and it's balanced between crisp and smooth. It's a bit dryer on the palate than expected. Something woody leads into the finish.
