Poured from a can into a tulip.
Pours hazed gold with limited head and moderate lacing.
Citrus aromas prominent, particularly the promised orange, with hints of grain and pine in the background.
The brew arrives on the tip of the tongue with some malt sweetness and citrus, but not as strong as expected, and that's not offputting. The mid-palate delivers the creamy oat flavor promised on the can without straying into NEIPA territory. Best of all, the brew closes with some solid acid and pine hopping to balance out the sweet creamy start.
The brew has a very nice mouthfeel. Solidly medium, but doesn't feel quite that way. The carbonation is spectacular, and the brew finishes very nicely.
Fernson's standard offerings are solid and repeatable, but I'm starting to really dig their one-offs. This is a tasty IPA that, despite the oat-strong delivery, avoids veering into NEIPA territory. This is no hazy juice bomb.
