12 oz single can from Fogey's, best by 3/27/21, can't read the born on date.
Brewed with Lactose, Vanilla, and Blueberry Puree. Just released. Sounds promising.
Into Parish Teku.
Pours a gorgeous glowing purple body with a pink head of 2 fingers.
Aroma is barnyard, a little bit of hay, slight fruity perfume, and a little bit of semi-sweet blueberry. Maybe a touch of vanilla pod.
Flavor is of barnyard funk and vinegar. The blueberry and vanilla get completely lost here. There's a little bit of citrus undertones, I wanna say lemon and lime, with some stony mineral, and if I think hard, maybe some blueberry pop tart, but make no mistake, there is no lasting blueberry or vanilla anywhere here.
Feel is acidic and busy, with nice pop and a bit of cling on the finish.
Overall, this is not a bad tasting general citrus-based sour, but for being labeled "blueberry pie", this is a total disaster. There is not any blueberry, or vanilla, or lactose ANYWHERE in this beer. Do not expect it, you will not get it.
Much like the Twin Bing, it is a failed experiment and should have never been released. There's a lot of new burgeoning beer drinkers in our city and you're going to train them think they shouldn't expect what a beer advertises. I'm sick of such shitty beer in my city. More lies on a can from a local brewery just to sell a $3 can. It's getting ridiculous to the point where I will not recommend any local breweries to a visitor. You used blueberries. Great. They didn't translate. You know it. Re-label the thing and chalk your losses. Don't release this shit and expect people to not know the difference. You can go somewhere else and find breweries that will deliver on what they promise. Why can't Fernson? Or most any other local brewery for that matter? It's the eternal question.
Price paid : $2.79 / can
Would buy again : no
