Pours a deep, golden amber coloration with a small, fizzy head. Smells of light, doughy malt and some light coffee notes, as well as a hint of zesty citrus and tannic oak. Taste is a great balance of light, doughy malt, some tart, fruity and slightly spicy yeast esters: green apple, clove, old coffee grounds, and tannic, earthy oak, as well as a good lactic acidity and just a hint of sea salt. Finishes with a light acidity and some coffee and tannic oak lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
This is quite an intriguing Gose with a rather complex and well-balanced array of flavors, although it was probably a lot better 2 years ago when it was still fresh, as there really isn't all that much coffee coming through here. Still, given its age, there is just about a decent coffee presence to this, probably mainly from the cascara, as well as a distinct, tannic and earthy oak character, with a good lactic acidity and hints of estery fruit/spice and sea salt.
