The brewry notes say that this is a "Honey-Rye IPA, which is a West Coast-Style IPA with tropical fruit, floral, and strawberry notes. High bitterness."
Here's what I got: At the brewery, served in a shaker. Clear, has an interesting reddish look to it, with one finger head, minimal retention and lacing. Nose: definitely getting some strawberry and some floral notes...and maybe some smooth and sweet bready notes (I don't know what role rye should play in honey-rye, but I'm not picking anything up). Taste: I'm finding this pretty mellow, with the strawberry notes the most distinctive thing here, though this is closer to big fat commercial berries that are a little watery, as opposed to sharp wild strawberries. I don't get all that much bitterness, though maybe just a bit of honeyed sweetness. The construction is solid. No flaws here, I'm just kind of unenthused about the combination of flavors.
