2020 wax-topped bottling poured into a tulip. Pours mostly opaque black with a large, fluffy dark khaki head. Immediate notes of dark chocolate, coffee, and caramelly-bourbon hit the nose, with a solid body of char, roasted malt, medium sweetness from vanilla and bakers chocolate, and some caramel. Present twang from the alcohol at this young age. A good to very good barrel-aged RIS offering.

On tap at Payette's Black Friday. Inky, oily black pour. Tastes more potent than 8.5%. Medium aroma, strong taste, finishes quickly. Makes you think big, but really kind of lightweight....

Roasty with good bitterness... Bittersweet chocolate and dark raisin essence.. A little "burnt" for my personal palate, but not a knock... Aroma is little more complex than the flavor... Creamy mouthfeel... Hints of EtOH... Better than I was expecting... Good 1st attempt at a RIS. This was an ambitious beer, and I'm pretty impressed. Like a slightly bigger boned Sammy Smith RIS if that makes sense.
