Revisit 4/16/20 - Bomber from Albertsons. Dark brown pour, small creamy tan head. Mellow, roasty aroma. Taste is more rich, deep roast malts with a hint of sweetness. Creamy, smooth feel, thanks to the oatmeal. Really solid.
Prior: 3.8
Draft at brewery. Dark brown/black small head. Sweet aroma, some chocolate, maple sugar. Very pleasant. Taste continues with a nice blend of bitter and sweet. Close to a breakfast Stout. I’m thinking of pancakes and sausages. Nice.

a simple and smooth example of the style here, well executed but pretty basic, which was the case with just about all of the beers we had in here, straight up but solid across the board. this is coal black with a matte luster to it, a nice rich frothy tan head, and nice lace as it drinks. velvet in texture, with lots of dark roasted barley character but not a ton of bitterness from it, mellow in that regard, softened by the oatmeal for sure, which smooths it out some too obviously. earthy and sort of biscuity, drier than they usually are at this slightly higher abv which i dig, and with some fresh ground coffee depth on the finish, even a little cola note of all things, all from the grain. nothing real unique about this overall though, but its fun to drink a random local beer thats so well executed, i feel like the general scene here in boise has been kind of hit or miss, especially with darker beers so far, at least the ones i have encountered, so i was excited to discover this one, which drinks nicely and checks all the boxes. i had a good time in here, really nice people and some well executed ales and lagers! definitely one to put on your radar if you live in the boise area...

On tap @ Legends, Boise ID.
A: Dark brown with ruby edges in the glass; huge foamy/fluffy off-white head with great retention.
S: Cocoa, oats, dark malt, roast, nuttiness, hazelnuts.
T: Really follows the nose beautifully, all of the same components are here...nutty (leaning toward peanut butter), oaty, bittersweet chocolate, even caramel.
MF: Creamy and smooth medium body, oaty character fluffs it up and cuts a bit of the sweetness.
O: Really well-executed oatmeal stout, great job by a local Idaho brewery. Looking forward to trying more from them.

Draft at the taproom tonight... Pours almost black, but a little bit of clarity shows the brew as the deepest possible walnut brown... Dark tan head has nice retention and lacing... Expected slight sweetness helps tie the whole brew together... light roastiness and hints of coffee.. a little nuttiness... nice smooth silky body... great body and easy drinking for the ABV.. Very nicely done.. Textbook Oatmeal Stout.
