Draft at County Line. Near black pour, small cap of tan head. Roasty, nutty aroma, mild sweetness. Taste is also nutty, mildly sweetness. Betwern a dunkel and a schwarzbier, with a lean towards the schwarz.

i believe this is the same beer as their ruths lager, just with some dark grain added in, which i guess would make it more of an american dark lager than a european one, but i dont see a category for that, so here we are. i liked this version a lot, where the ruths was really minimal in terms of flavor and complexity, this one has quite a bit more going on, and picks up cool roast and cocoa notes from the dark malt, as well as some body and some bitterness, a much more dynamic flavor profile even with the yeast still being close to invisible and the hopping being really mild. faint smoke and chocolate come in the middle here, and an almost berry note right before the end, a little bit sweet again, but its resolved by the finish, they were pretty light handed with this darker malt, and could definitely push it a little bit more in a future batch, but a little also goes a long way here, and this ends up a totally different beer with just the one difference in the recipe. i like it still being on the light side, which makes it drinkable in all seasons not just the cold and grey months. well refined too, with nice carbonation and a clean finish. simple but solid.
