this is their lime lager done up with chili peppers, and i like it at least as much as the original. the peppers add a ton of flavor, copilots with the lime in terms of intensity and contribution to the whole. they did an awesome job getting fresh raw pepper flavor into this without much heat, in fact i hardly feel any, maybe just a little in the back of the throat at the end of each sip, but its real short lived and really doesnt make this any less refreshing. the peppers work great with the malt that is here, the earthy crackery pils malt, and the pinch of coriander in the base beer gives it some cool and fully compatible depth. there is a bright freshness to the pepper, a green vegetal element, likely jalapenos at least in here, maybe poblano too, flavorful all the way, sort of climaxing at the end. the acidity of the lime cuts it, and where i thought the lime was a little too much in the original, i love what it does here to balance and enhance the peppers simultaneously. i think originally made for cinco de mayo, but a good enough chili beer to keep on all year here. a tough thing to do well, and they nailed it.
