Can dated 1/16/19 into pint glass. Pours a hazy gold color with a modest white head. Initial impression is spicy and a little bitter - surprising, considering the style. There is also some dankness that doesn't enhance the experience. Mouthfeel is medium and fairly clean. Finish is fruity, spicy, and, again, slightly bitter. I'm not a big fan of Belgian beers, but I don't think this one adheres to the style very well. And I find the spiciness of this beer somewhat off-putting. Pass.

Making the transition from stouts and porters kicking and screaming and landed on this beauty. Always been a fan of Abbey Tripels. This one is light on the nose but a spicy finish with slight citrus and herbal flavors. This is a well-balanced and drinkable beer leading into the spring\summer but not quite ready for pilsners, IMHO.

Poured a cloudy light yellow gold body with two finger fizzy head that died quick and didn't leave lace. Not sure what is up with beer but aroma is mostly a peppery, spicy and also is somehow sour/funky and quite frankly is somewhat off-putting. Sweet malts like caramel and other sweet factors like bubblegum yeast and candi sugar are barely there, if that, as this tripel comes across as light bodied and mainly comprised of peppery spices and bitter hops. These two flavors/ingredients are not well-balanced and the beer has this slightly funky (not in good way) finish that also lets booze bleed in. Not a well constructed tripel and not worth trying.
