On tap at the brewery Ale House.
Clear but very dark brown colored body with a good white head.
Lightly sweet, enticing aroma. The flavor is about equally sweet and bitter with nice strong chocolate notes and some coffee. Very good balance.
Smooth medium full body with medium light carbonation.

Aroma is decadent chocolate, dark, fairly sweet.

Flavor is similar, though less sweet and more dark chocolate, with a roasty finish and just a hint of acidity.

Enjoyed from the growler via Taft's Ale House in a snifter and a shaker pint at the brewery.
Liked it so much I brought it home! This nice English porter pours a deep muddled brown
with a very nice head of off white foam that settles to a thick ring, thin layer, and features some
very nice lacing. Nose of chocolate--dark and sweet, subtle char, and subtle cream. Flavors follow the
nose with chocolate, char, and nice sweet malts with a touch of cream. Nice mouth feel, smooth, creamy,
medium feel, and finishing lightly bitter from malt and cocoa. Overall an excellent porter from an
excellent brewery in the English fashion. If one keeps in mind it is English it is dead on the style
and one I would expect to find in a good pub.

Fantastic work Taft's! Keep up the good work!

Noticeable cocoa/chocolate aroma. A little bit of charred malt. Lots of chocolate flavor and pretty good at that. Not too bitter or too sweet. Not a whole lot going on otherwise though. Body is medium and fairly creamy/soft/full for a porter. Honestly it reminds me a little bit of a Young's Double Chocolate Stout, but while it was good, it just doesnt have enough roasted flavor for me. Good dessert beer

On tap at Taft's Ale House, served in a shaker pint.

Appearance: Dark cola brown-black, with a tan head of foam that didn't linger overlong.

Smell: Rich, sweet chocolate swells from the surface, shot through with charred malt and just a touch of coffee.

Taste: This is definitely a chocolate porter, as notes of both sweet and dark chocolate feature prominently throughout the tasting process. Beneath that swirls a mix of burnt toast, blackened grain, a whisper of light coffee, and just the barest suggestion of the ghost of a nectarine.

Mouthfeel: Full for a porter, which means somewhat medium of body, with a silky, creamy sort of sensation along the tongue.

Overall: This almost instantly became one of my favorite adjunct porters. Rumors of canning were present when I had this, which would be a most welcome development.

Pours a rich dark black color. Graham cracker head that lingers throughout drinking. Light chocolate notes on the nose. Chocolate shines through on the taste but not overpowering, slight bitterness to finish. Carbonation leaves a clean taste on the pallet ready for the next sip. Solid stuff from these folks

This was not an enjoyable porter at all.

It poured a dark brown, nearly black color, with a huge airy off-white colored head. The first thing I noticed was its thin mouthfeel. Way too thin and somewhat flat. I noticed chocolate in the flavor, but it was masked by a chalk-like characteristic, something that both tasted and felt chalky. Other than a strong chalk flavor and faint hint of chocolate, this beer was otherwise tasteless. And lacked any sort of body or carbonation.

I didnt enjoy it. This is one of the rare times in my career here that I will go ahead and use the word "drain-pour".
