Solid Hefeweizen from nice local brewer. I think the atmosphere of their taproom (which is amazing) is better than the quality of their beers. But still, this is one of their better selections and I would recommend.

On tap at Taft's Ale House, arrived in a nonic pint.
Appearance: This beer arrived clean-window clear, which quirked my eyebrow and raised a red flag - hefeweizens are not about clarity! The color is a warm golden clover honey, capped with a bright white head that rapidly dies to a ring. Lacing is scarcely present.
Smell: While the brewpub contains a rather active kitchen, I was able to discern ripe wheat, faint banana, and vague spice scents.
Taste: Bubblegum and banana fill the mouth from the first sip, primarily the bubblegum. Beneath them, supporting them as mighty thews support the mythic Atlas, comes a veritable barrage of heavy lush wheat. Faintly, very faintly, one can detect the presence of some coriander and clove, though they are far away, on the other side of the bubblegum factory ringed with acres and acres of wheat.
Mouthfeel: Quite fluffy and medium-bodied, with a fair amount of carbonation to flesh it out.
Overall: Not my favorite hefeweizen, and not even my favorite hefe brewed outside Germany, but a viable option for a fresh wheat beer.
