Look - great copper color with a nice white head and sticky lacing. Looks very think
Smell - orange and floral hop scent and a good caramel malt backbone, very classic.
Taste - first thing I taste is that caramel backbone and some booze but I get a citrus taste in there as well. Orange and maybe some apricot. Instead of floral like the smell I get more resin. Pretty sweet too.
Feel - medium full body with a medium carb
Overall - actually a pretty standard traditional dipa. Pretty well balanced. Reminds me of Sierra Nevadas torpedo

12oz can poured into a tulip. Pours golden with nice clarity and transparency with bubbles racing upwards; big fluffy and chunky off-white head that falls slowly leaving great thick retention and sticky frothy lacing. Looks great. The aromas have a blend of citrus and tropical fruit. Hints of peach, apricot and orange. Subtle caramel notes. Malts are there. The flavors follow the nose. More peach, apricot and orange leading the way. Some watermelon in the mix. More hints of caramel. Some resinous characteristics. Moderate bitterness. Subtle spiciness. It's slightly sweet. Finishes juicy. Mild warmth in the finish, but the alcohol is ultimately well hidden for the most part. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied with moderate to low carbonation. It's slick, fluffy and smooth.
This is a solid DIPA. It's my first time trying a beer from Taft's, so I can't compare it to their regular 'Gavel Banger'. It's nothing too crazy, but it's not bad. It's enjoyable.
