Just like music videos, there's a lot of older beer drinkers who miss the classic American IPA. There's not much they can do about the videos but Mikkerphone brewers are giving a go at the IPA.
Projected hazy and butternut lemon in color, I Want My IPA builds a creamy ivory froth and a billowing scent of caramel, citrus, tropical and dank herbal perfumes. Its moderate sweetness is caramelized with suggestions of toast, nuttiness and honey to suggest something of graham cracker. Growing hop flavors showcase the Citra hops with tangerine, mango and apricot while more zesty flavors of passionfruit, kiwi and lemon stem from the Mosaic hops. Trending more bitter, a peppery balance shifts the balance to the hops for a sprucy, spicy and weed-like finish.
Medium bodied, semi-dry and bitter leaning, the session isn't quite the American IPA that we wanted but anything not hazy, smoothie or milkshake is music to our tastebuds.

Not cloudy but not translucent. Copper colored with a tight white head. Nice lacing. Nose is sweet like tangerine. Taste is a muted grapefruit with a slight orange/tangerine flavor. Bit of bitterness, needs more.

Heavy and thick, a great powerful and smooth taste, just a hint of sweetness, full mouth feel. Really nice beer. Tastes like something that could be a regular.

Pours dark orange but not too hazy. Not as far as haze goes these days.
Kind of orange juicy and pineapple. A little bitter finish. Kind of a blend of old and new school ipa. Pretty good but not great.
I’d drink it but wouldn’t seek it out.

Batch #2. Bottled 8/24/16; drank same day (!) at the Yarchives.
Semi-opaque orange appearance.
A rough pour yielded a small off-white head; nice lace.
Pineapple, banana & mango notes in the nose.
Creamy, medium mouthfeel.
Pineapple, banana & mango flavors up front; mild dry grass notes on the finish.
Killer fruit IPA vibes, with a nice dryness for balance. Well done!
